2011 Spirit of Christmas Parade & Festival

What a weekend for Lee County! It all started Friday night with our Movie Under the Stars where folks of all ages braved the cold weather and joined a few hundred of their friends and neighbors to watch “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas”! We even had a special guest appearance by the Grinch himself! Then on Saturday the beautiful weather and the crowds, estimated at over 3,000, showed up for our 23rd Annual Spirit of Christmas Parade and our third annual “Spirit of Christmas Festival”. Two of our more popular participants were our Grand Marshal, Luke Bryan and of course Santa! There were 100+ parade applicants to pass in review. Congratulations to our float winners! Winners in the Non-Commercial category were: 1st Place -Lee County High School’s FFA, 2nd Place - Lee County Pre-K, and 3rd Place - Lee County Sheriff’s Office. In our Commercial category: 1st Place - Lee Medical Arts, 2nd Place - Mack Odom Asphalt, and 3rd Place - Pressley Electric. Approximately 80 vendors lined Starksville Avenue creating a festive spirit to jumpstart the holiday season. Families enjoyed great food, entertainment, games, pictures with Santa, story time, and shopping!

The Chamber would like to thank all those who came out to support these events and to all our volunteers and sponsors! A special thank you to Luke Bryan for taking the time out of his schedule to spend a little time with his Hometown, Friends, and Family! Thank you to all who brought unwrapped toys, canned goods, or monetary donations. We are grateful to have been a part of such an exciting event and be able to help out so many families and children who are in need. We would also like to thank our City and County Employees and Administration, Schools, Churches, and Law Enforcement for your collaboration on this project!
