Hughston Health Alert wins 2013 Grand Award

Columbus, Georgia – September 17, 2013 - The Hughston Health Alert was recently awarded the Grand Award in the 2013 APEX Awards for Publication Excellence. The APEX Awards for Publication Excellence is an annual competition for writers, editors, publications staff and business and nonprofit communicators. This is an international competition that recognizes outstanding publications from newsletters and magazines to annual reports, brochures, and Web sites.

The Fall 2012 issue of the Hughston Health Alert won the competition in the Newsletter category. APEX judges said this about the publication "Is a picture really worth a thousand words? In this case, definitely, yes! The illustrations are superb, and immediately convey health risks and medical conditions with exceptional clarity. Copywriting is concise, interesting and well presented with callouts, sidebars and captions."

Under the direction of Editor, Thomas N. Bernard, Jr., MD, the Hughston Health Alert is planned and produced by the Hughston Health Alert Editorial Board members: Dennise Brogdon, managing editor; Belinda Klein, MA, art director; Carol M. Binns, MA, senior medical editor; Mark A. Baker, PT, CEO; William Etchison, MS; Andy Grubbs, Jr., MEd, ATC; Rob Hopkins, PT, SCS; Cholly P. Minton; Champ L. Baker III, MD; and Steve Young, PT.

This is the second consecutive year that the Hughston Health Alert won the Grand Award in the Newsletter category. The Winter 2011 issue was awarded the Newsletter Grand Award last year.
The Hughston Health Alert has placed every year since 2002 in this competition and this is the fourth time it has won the Grand Award in the Newsletter category. Congratulations to the Hughston Health Alert Editorial Board for their hard work and continued dedication to this important publication.
